HARTMANN UK&I Launches New Disinfection Division

12.04.2021

HARTMANN UK&I has established a new UK Disinfection Division, bringing the BODE Chemie range into the portfolio, which includes Sterillium®, a brand with significant heritage. Sterillium® was the world’s first alcohol-based hand rub, available in 1965, and is still one of the most clinically proven disinfection products on the market. The BODE Chemie range also includes Bacillol®30 Tissues, ready to use surface cleaning and disinfection wipes and Stellisept®Med, an antimicrobial body wash, plus others.

Richard Cornwell, Managing Director of HARTMANN UK&I comments, “This launch is part of our global initiative ‘Mission: Infection Prevention’. A study in 2017* showed that an estimated 834,000 health care associated infections (HCAIs) cost the NHS £2.7 billion and accounted for 28,500 patient deaths, 7.1 million occupied hospital bed days and 79,700 days of absenteeism among front-line health care practitioners.“

“These figures are rising and as one of the leading disinfection product manufacturers, we are committing more resources than ever before to researching and continuously improving our product range. The combination of market and scientific knowledge on disinfection within HARTMANN Group is second to none and we look forward to providing these leading solutions to healthcare professionals in the UK and Ireland.”

HARTMANN UK&I has been working very closely with H&R Healthcare on the transfer of BODE Chemie into its UK division, to ensure a seamless transition. BODE Chemie has been part of the global HARTMANN family since 2009 and will now help HARTMANN UK&I build on current activities within the primary and acute healthcare market.

Richard adds, “Since before HARTMANN’s acquisition of Bode Chemie in 2009, Bode products have been distributed through the UK and Ireland by H&R Healthcare. We would like to take this opportunity to thank H&R Healthcare for their unwavering commitment to supplying our customers with Bode products over the past 15 years.”

Dr Erika Monch, Head of Microbiology at HARTMANN’s Business Division Disinfection comments, “Global outbreaks of other emerging diseases are highly probable in the future. Hospitals and care homes are under immense pressure to prevent infections and provide a clean and safe environment, despite growing patient numbers and new challenges brought about by pressures on intensive care beds. We work very closely with nurses, hygiene professionals and physicians, who see many of these challenges first hand, to make sure that products like Sterillium® meet their needs, not just now but through whatever issues they may face in the future.”

Richard Debenham, Business Development Manager HARTMANN UK&I adds, “The maths is simple, the more patients that need to be treated, the more often nursing staff and doctors turn to disinfectants. We feel a huge sense of responsibility to make sure that the UK has access to the highest levels of research and best disinfection products possible. Bringing the BODE Chemie range into our portfolio, enables us to provide even more solutions and support, helping healthcare professionals overcome any disinfection challenges."
