ADDITIONAL UPDATES After successful MDR rollout: HARTMANN pushes ahead with implementation of new regulations The European Union's newMedical Device Regulation (MDR) has been in force since May 2021. This means that from now on, all medical devices must be MDR-compliant. HARTMANN was one of the first companies to prepare in detail for the direc- tive-compliant implementation and was already able to report full compliance by early 2020. Following the successful MDR rollout, the Company is now focusing on implementing the next regulatory requirements. Examples of this are the new EU regu- lations on in vitro diagnostics (In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Device Regulation, IVDR) and biocidal products (Biocidal Products Regulation, BPR). New in vitro diagnostic devices and those without a valid IVDD certificate must comply with the requirements regulated in the IVDR from May 26, 2022. HARTMANN, as a distributor and im- porter in this area, anticipates complex and time-consuming changes for the manufacturers of these products. The BPR regulates the approval of biocidal products, for example disinfectants such as HARTMANN's Sterillium® Protect & Care. HARTMANN has to apply for a new approval for many disinfec- tion products and some of their active ingredients and also expects a high level of additional work here. Nevertheless, the Company is confident that it will also be able to report completion of the BPR by 2026. First milestone achieved: Incontinence Management on the way to halving waste As part of the Transformation Program, the four main production sites of the Incontinence Management segment launched the "Waste 2.0" project in 2020. The aim is to halve waste in produc- tion processes by 2026. In spring 2021, the project team reached an important milestone by reducing actual waste by around a quarter of the target. The secret to success: the exchange of experience across all sites. The teams at the plants shared in- formation in online meetings about the resources required, ob- jectives and planned measures and were thus able to success- fully implement the reduction in waste at all four sites. In addition, the focus was on optimizing the production facilities to increase efficiency. To this end, overall equipment effectiveness was ana- lyzed, problems and errors were solved using lean tools and methods, and control measures and capacities were expanded. The project team has thus come a decisive step closer to its ambitious goal of halving waste. Showering with all the senses: KNEIPP and hansgrohe cooperate KNEIPP and hansgrohe, the leading premium manufacturer of shower heads and bathroom fittings, have begun a partnership. In addition to joint communication measures, the addition of multi-sensory showering environments with selected Kneipp products is planned. The KNEIPP products will specifically en- hance the chosen mood of these environments with their aroma effect. In addition, the two companies will work on further product developments. Sven-Olaf Hansen, Head of Marketing at KNEIPP, states, "At hansgrohe, we share a passion for water and values such as quality, tradition, a natural approach and sustainability. With this joint partnership, we are striving for a perfectly harmo- nized showering and bathing experience."
