INFORM | THIRD QUARTER OF 2021
In general, sustainability is a top priority for the entire HARTMANN GROUP. This is not just a reaction to increasing regulatory requirements or the growing relevance among cus- tomers and employees. It is a result of the Company’s awareness of its social, economic and ecological responsibilities. All these aspects of sustainability will be presented in a report to be pub- lished in 2022. A cross-divisional team is currently bringing to - gether all sustainability issues to pursue worldwide goals within the Group, such as reducing the overall carbon footprint. This increased transparency will help HARTMANN reduce carbon emissions on the road towards long-term climate neutrality as well as make visible progress in all other areas of sustainability. As one of only a few brands, KNEIPP is allowed to use the Green Brand sustainability seal with four stars. A commitment to help: HARTMANN supports people in need HARTMANN is committed to helping people in need. That is a fact that was proven in a remarkable way following the flood disaster in many regions of Europe this summer. Support was also provided to the victims of the volcanic eruption on the Canary Islands. HARTMANN employees affected by storms In July, a low-pressure zone resulted in unusually heavy rainfall that caused flooding in many areas. Around 200 people died in Germany alone. The German government estimates the flood damage to private homes at over 14 billion euros. Some HARTMANN employees and their families also suffered losses. Fortunately, they survived the disaster without any major damage to their physical well-being, which was relieving news for everyone; however, many houses, apartments and other prop- erty of our employees were damaged – in some cases severely. In response, their colleagues literally rolled up their sleeves and travelled to the disaster area to help clear out cellars, dry out possessions, clean, tidy up and – of course – offer their col- leagues some comfort. In times of need, HARTMANN has shown a culture of standing up for one another and taking the initiative when help is urgently needed – a culture that extends beyond the company premises and working hours. HARTMANN also made a financial contribution to help with the flood damages, including a cash donation to “Aktion Deutschland hilft”. In addition, the Company was in close contact with its part- ner retailers which specialize in providing supplies to local relief organizations. Product donations for volcano victims Two months after the flooding in Germany, there was another natural event that caused considerable damage: this time on the Canary Island of La Palma. When the Cumbre Vieja volcano erupt - ed there, it put many people and their properties at risk. HARTMANN Spain immediately donated, among other things, 50,000 surgical masks and 10,000 units of the disinfectant Sterillium ® for people in emergency shelters. HARTMANN will continue to take action when people need help. 10 Inform third quarter 2021 | Additional updates
