Estimating how the amount of exudate in a wound will develop over time can be very challenging. While moist wounds heal 2 to 3 times faster than dry wounds[1]skin maceration, prolonged wound healing times and pain are just some of the factors that can result from inadequate exudate management.

Super absorbent polymerdressings such as Zetuvit® Plus Silicone Border are gaining in popularity:they are now included in the latest edition of the World Union of Wound Healing Societies’ (WUWHS) consensus document on effective assessment and management of wound exudate.[3]

Falanga's Wound Exudate Score with its 3 levels is the method favoured by WUWHS for assessing wound exudate.[4]
